Bomb attack kills 12 at Pakistan market: Officials

PESHAWAR: A car bomb attack killed 12 people and wounded dozens more in a Pakistan market on Monday in the northwestern town of Jamrud close to the Afghan border, officials said.
The bomb exploded in a small market near a bus stop, where passengers wait for buses to take them across the northwest and to other parts of the country.
“Twelve people were killed and more than 50 wounded in the blast. The blast also damaged 10 vehicles and more than 15 shops in the market,” local administration official Jehangir Azam told AFP.
His colleague Attarur Rehman Orakzai gave the same death toll but said 57 were wounded.
Officials had earlier said nine people were killed.
“According to my initial information, there was an explosive-laden van, which caused the explosion. We are trying to ascertain whether it hit a target or just blew up,” Khyber’s most senior administration official, Mutahir Zeb, told AFP.
Two intelligence officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the explosives had been packed into a Suzuki Alto vehicle.

Election campaign: ‘Main contest between leaders of Lahore and PPP’

MULTAN:  The general elections will be a fight between supporters and opponents of new provinces in Pakistan, former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said on Saturday. He was addressing a public gathering in PP-202. More than 30,000 people attended the rally.
Gilani said the main competition in the elections would be between the “leaders of Lahore” and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) .
He said the PPP aimed at creating a Seraiki province. He said by creating this province, his party would take revenge from those who were against it.
He said that the leaders in Lahore were unaware of the grievances of the people in their region.
“How can they then identify and resolve issues in other areas?”
He said the PPP leadership felt the pain of the people of the region.
“I need the people of this region to realise this reality and support us to save themselves from punishment and revenge,” he said.
To a question, Gilani said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) did not have a manifesto.
He said, “PTI cannot compete with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz or any other party.”

How To Care Your Teeth

Brushing Your Teeth

  1. 1
Brush your teeth thoroughly at least twice a day, for two minutes each time. Make sure you brush on all sides of your teeth and get your tongue. You can ask your dentist(s) for a demonstration. It is best to do one of these times before you go to bed, as your mouth does not have the same salivary protection when you are sleeping as it does during the day. If you can, brush after lunch as well. Brushing during the day will reduce the damage caused by plaque byproducts and toxins.

    • Each tooth has five distinct sides; a toothbrush cleans only 3 of those 5 sides. The other two sides are where much of the destruction and disease (not to mention foul odors) originate: the in between areas. These remaining two sides require dental floss or tiny inter-dental brushes that can reach in-between and under the contact points of the teeth. Gum disease is linked to life-threatening illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and premature low birth weight babies.
  2. 2
Use a dry bristle brush for the first two minutes of cleaning. It's not the toothpaste that "cleans" your teeth, it's the mechanical action of the bristles in physical contact with the tooth surface that removes plaque (a living bio-film teeming with microorganisms that cause disease). You can do a magnificent job brushing your teeth using a dry brush and rinsing with water (although your teeth will not have the benefit of fluoride).
  3. 3
Spend time moving the bristles at and below the gum line, where it is most important to clean. The toothpaste can go on after those two minutes, and you can have the advantage of fluoride, whitening, stain removal or whatever works better for you because it's applied to a nice clean surface.

Floss Your Teeth

  1. 1
Floss your teeth daily and after any food that will stick in your teeth (i.e. corn on the cob, caramel, peanut butter, etc.). This cleans the other sides of your teeth that you couldn't reach with your toothbrush.
  2. 2
Use a tongue scraper. A tongue scraper is an important part of oral hygiene that will also work wonders with stale, smelly breath. Use it to remove the plaque on your tongue, which will freshen breath and presumably slow down the accumulation of plaque on your teeth. Alternatively, you can use your toothbrush to clean your tongue.

Use Mouth Wash

  1. 1
Find a fluoride mouthwash. Fluoride mouthwashes help to strengthen tooth enamel. Teach children between the age of six and twelve good rinsing skills to prevent swallowing. Follow the directions on the bottle. Right before you got to bed is a good time.

Choose Your Foods Wisely

  1. 1
Avoid snacking constantly. Snacking constantly can cause plaque to build up on your teeth, which can increase the risk of getting cavities.
  2. 2
Avoid sugary and/or sticky foods. Sugar feeds the bacteria in your mouth, which then excrete substances that break down tooth enamel.
    • Eat lots of vegetables, and drink water instead of soda or juice.
  3. 3
Remember that fruit juices are full of acids and natural sugars. Keep drinking these to a minimum or only drink them at meal-times, when the saliva is flowing most.
  4. 4
Try to chew less seeds. It may produce fissures in your molars.

Visit the dentist

  1. 1
Visit your dentist at least every six months and every time that you have a problem with your teeth. Schedule a professional cleaning with a registered dental hygienist. #Visit the dentist twice a year and Be an "informed health care consumer" and pay attention to what is going on. Ask your dental hygienist what your probings are at each visit! (They should be between 1 mm and 3 mm deep.)
  2. 2
Most important: In addition to checking for signs of cavities or gum disease, the dentist and dental hygienist can give you feedback about how effective your plaque removal at home is, and more importantly help you learn the best way to brush and floss. You need to know how to prevent problems by having your skills evaluated. If you are not effective with flossing and brushing technique, you are only wasting your time while leaving the door open for infection and disease. How many times a day you brush & floss, or how long you spend brushing are all SECONDARY to your degree of skill using them. It all boils down to whether or not you can effectively reach and remove the adherent biofilm surrounding every one of your teeth, at and below the gumline. Ask your dental hygienist to watch your technique and work with you! That's what we're there for!

Tips

  • Understand that when you brush, you don't need a lot of toothpaste; just squeeze out a bit the size of a pea.
  • Replace your toothbrush every three months.
  • Spend extra time on the back teeth along the gum-line, holding the bristles at a 45 degree angle pointing toward the gums, as plaque and other bacteria can build up easily there because of your saliva stream.
  • Everyone has millions of bacteria living in their mouths that have one goal: find a hard surface to stick to and grow into a community. This happens rapidly and automatically, whether we know it or not, twenty-four hours a day, and three hundred and sixty-five days a year. It cannot be avoided because our bacteria are part of us and present whether we like it or not. Once they attach themselves to a tooth surface, they form what is called "plaque" - the invisible film that coats your teeth. You have probably felt this 'fuzzy sweater' feeling on your teeth when you wake up in the morning and run your tongue along the outside of the upper back teeth next to your cheek. Taking care of your teeth involves disrupting the plaque by means of physical contact with dental floss and toothbrush bristles.
  • Use a thorough, effective technique with a slow circular motion aimed AT and BELOW the gumline, inside and out, top and bottom. Brushing too hard may abrade your gums or cause them to recede and/or bleed, while brushing too soft will do nothing to get rid of plaque/biofilm.
  • Floss your teeth before brushing. This is so that plaque from the outside and inside surfaces of the teeth gets dislodged too be killed when you brush.
  • Aim the bristles toward the gumline and brush the insides and outsides of your teeth in a small circular motion.
  • Use a linear motion to brush the top sides of your teeth (chewing surfaces).
  • When brushing the back sides of your front teeth, hold the toothbrush upright (vertical) and move it up and down along each individual tooth - both lower and upper arches. Repeat several times for each tooth.
  • Use mouth wash after brushing.
  • Chewing gum between meals, especially if the gum is sweetened with xylitol, helps keep your mouth moist, and your teeth cleaner, both of which are good for your teeth.
  • Get into the habit of drinking with a straw, as this directs the (possibly sugary) drink away from your teeth.
  • If you smoke, you will be more prone to bad breath, gum infection and bone loss. Also, it prevents you from experiencing the real taste of food and drinks.
  • Don't forget to brush the back of your tongue and the upper palate of your mouth.
  • When you use mouthwash, use as directed on the bottle, read all instructions BEFORE using the product.
  • New prescription toothpastes are now available that can actually reverse early lesions (cavities) by remineralization and also bring added protection to those areas on the verge of breaking down. Ask your dentist or dental hygienist about these products... they are a major breakthrough in preventing decay!
  • Bulimia can wreak havoc on your teeth, causing irreversible damage from the strong acid in your stomach that comes back up into the mouth while regurgitating. When you have a check up at the dentist, this destruction is clearly visible to them.
  • Try and drink milk, as it is high in calcium. Calcium helps bones and teeth to grow stronger.

Warnings

  • Don't swallow toothpaste. Be sure to rinse and spit after brushing.
  • Less is more. Don't floss, brush teeth, or scrape tongue too roughly. Over-brushing or rough flossing can cause gums to recede.
  • Some toothpaste is not recommended to be used daily if they are too strong - check the label of your toothpaste for details.
  • Never brush your teeth right after a big meal. Wait about a half an hour and then go. Otherwise, you could damage your enamel!
  • Don't swallow mouth wash.
  • After having an especially sugary drink, washing your mouth out with water or milk will help get rid of harmful acids.
•Don't use a brush with firm bristles, as this will scratch away at the protective layer that coats your teeth.
  • Don't wear mouth piercings. It produce micro-fractures in your teeth that might break your dental pieces.
  • Don't cut strands with your teeth because it will conduct eventually to extreme sensitivity.
  • Avoid biting objects/nails. It might cause tiny fissures and/or cracks in your teeth.
  • Don't chew gum constantly. IT will lead to articular problems and tooth cavities.
  • Avoid using toothpicks. They lead to gum disease.
  • Don't take drugs not prescribed by a dentist. Some drugs work causing friction with your gums which conducts to gum irritation and inflammation.

 Things You'll Need

  • Toothpaste
  • A good quality toothbrush, electric or manual, (soft bristled).
  • Dental floss
  • Tongue cleaner(Can use your toothbrush).
  • Sugar free chewing gum (for use during and after meals), can even use whitening gum!
  • Mouth wash (It can help restore some enamel). If you have weak enamel use pronamel toothpaste.
  • Toothpicks(To get everything out)

Majority Of Afghan Refugees In Pakistan Unwilling To Return

ISLAMABAD -- More than 1.6 million Afghan refugees registered in Pakistan are due to be repatriated by the end of the year.

But with just three weeks to go, a recent United Nations survey found that roughly 80 percent have no intention of returning to Afghanistan.

According to the survey, most Afghan families living in Pakistan feel Afghanistan is just not safe enough to go back home. Others cited the inability to earn a living and the lack of anywhere to live in their native country.

Pakistani Minister for States and Frontier Regions Shaukat Ullah acknowledges the challenges involved in convincing refugees to return to their country after decades of living in Pakistan.

"After 32 years if a person is returning from a country where he has been born and he is going to a country like Afghanistan they will think 100 times," Ullah says.

Since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in the 1990s, Pakistan has hosted one of the largest refugee populations in the world. Some 3.8 million refugees have crossed back over the border into Afghanistan.

The UNHCR has offered plastic buckets, soap, blankets, cash, and a one-way ticket for those still living in Pakistan, and succeeded in encouraging another 72,000 people to return to Afghanistan this year.

But there are still 1.6 million official Afghan refugees in Pakistan.

UNHCR representative Neill Wright says that organization is waiting to hear what Pakistan has planned for these refugees after the December 31 deadline.

"I know that the government is very actively engaged in considering what its policy will be in terms of the management of Afghan refugees in 2013, and in terms of supporting this continued partnership that we have with Afghanistan over voluntary repatriation, and I look forward to hearing what that strategy will be," Wright says.

Responding to concerns that there will be another wave of refugees from Afghanistan after international combat forces leave the country in 2014, Wright says contingency plans are under consideration.

"This is clearly an issue that I am involved in discussions with many people, senior politicians, people in Afghanistan, members of the international community," Wright says. "Of course, when you do contingency planning, you look at a worst case scenario and you look at a best case scenario, and if you are sensible you will probably look at something in the middle."

He declines to give any further details.

Many Afghan refugees live in very poor conditions in Pakistan.

According to the UNHCR, less than one-quarter of them work, and almost three-quarters of Afghan children are not going to school.

Russia To Finance Vietnam's First Nuclear Power Plant

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has announced that Russia is to lend Vietnam some $10 billion to build that country's first nuclear power plant.

Medvedev made the announcement on a visit to Hanoi where he is holding talks on boosting trade ties.

Medvedev also said the two countries have decided to start negotiations on a free trade agreement.

He said bilateral trade could reach $7 billion by 2015, up from less some $2 billion in 2011.

Medvedev also called for increased cooperation in oil and gas exploration, including more joint investment among the countries' energy companies.

Medvedev arrived in Hanoi from neighboring Laos where he attended a regional Asia-Europe meeting.

Russia, China Sign Deal For Nuclear Power Plants

Russian and Chinese officials have signed a protocol on construction of two more reactors for a Chinese nuclear power plant and discussed the possibility of building floating nuclear power plants.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and his Chinese counterpart, Wen Jiabao, signed the protocol on construction of the third and fourth units for China's Tianwan nuclear power plant in Moscow on December 6.

Russia's state nuclear company, Rosatom, built the first two units for Tianwan.

Rosatom chief Sergei Kiriyenko said his company should have the new reactors ready to launch in 2017 and start operations in 2018.

The two sides also discussed China's plans to add four more units to the Tianwan plant.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said his country was ready to build floating nuclear power plants for China.

Pakistan Test Fires Nuclear-Capable Ballistic Missile

Pakistan's military says it has successfully test-fired a medium-range ballistic missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.

A military statement said the Hatf V Ghauri missile was launched on November 28 from an undisclosed location.

It says the missile can carry both conventional and nuclear warheads over a distance of 1,300 kilometers.

Pakistan became a declared nuclear power in 1998 when it carried out its first underground nuclear tests in response to nuclear tests carried out by its neighbor and rival, India.

Since then the two countries have regularly carried out missile tests.

India and Pakistan have fought three wars since gaining independence from Britain in 1947, two of them over the disputed Himalayan territory of Kashmir.

Pakistan rapidly developing its nuclear arsenal

Estimated to have more nuclear weapons than India, Pakistan is rapidly developing and expanding its atomic arsenal, spending about $ 2.5 billion a year to develop such weapons, a report has said.
“Pakistan has been rapidly developing and expanding its nuclear arsenal, increasing its capacity to produce plutonium, and testing and deploying a diverse array of nuclear-capable ballistic and cruise missiles,” said the report ‘Assuring Destruction Forever: Nuclear Modernisation Around the World’
“Pakistan is moving from an arsenal based wholly on HEU to greater reliance on lighter and more compact plutonium-based weapons, which is made possible by a rapid expansion in plutonium production capacity,” said the 150-page report by Reaching Critical Will of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom.
“Pakistan is also moving from aircraft-delivered nuclear bombs to nuclear-armed ballistic and cruise missiles and from liquid-fuelled to solid-fuelled medium-range missile. Pakistan also has a growing nuclear weapons research, development, and production infrastructure,” it said.
According to the report Pakistan is estimated to have 90-110 nuclear weapons.
“A long-term concern now driving Pakistan’s nuclear programme is the US policy of countering the rise of China by cultivating a stronger strategic relationship with India. This may tie the future of Pakistan and India’s nuclear weapons to the emerging contest between the United States and China,” said the report.
Pakistan has a number of short—range, medium, and longer—range road—mobile ballistic surface—to—surface missiles in various stages of development.
“It has developed a second generation of ballistic missile systems over the past five years. It is estimated that Pakistan could have a stockpile of 2750 kg of weapon—grade HEU and may be producing about 150 kg of HEU per year,” it said.
Estimates suggest Pakistan has produced a total of about 140 kg of plutonium, the report said.
While not much information is available on the funding of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons project, the report said estimates indicate that Pakistan spends about $ 2.5 billion a year on nuclear weapons.
Despite extensive foreign military assistance, Pakistan’s effort to sustain its conventional and nuclear military programmes has come at increasingly great cost to the effort to meet basic human needs and improve living standards, the report said.
India, the report says, is estimated to have 80-100 nuclear warheads.
“It is also developing a range of delivery vehicles, including land— and sea—based missiles, bombers, and submarines,” it said.
“While nuclear weapons used to be seen as a ‘necessary evil’, there is no more enthusiasm for India to become a bonafide nuclear weapon power that can exercise its military might in the region,” it said.

More Pictures in One Row In Blogger

By default, when you upload pictures (images, or videos)) into your Blogger Posts, they are placed one after another. In one column.

The only thing we can choose, is to align them (left-center-right). There's no option to organize them so they can be next to each other, in one row (horizontal).
The best way to do this, is using the TABLES (if you want to know more about HTML Tables, visit www.w3schools.com).

1. You have to find out what is the WIDTH of your post area. To calculate how many pics can fit there. In Blogger, go to LAYOUT --> EDIT HTML, and in code section, find the following:
#main-wrapper {
width: 410px;
...so, in my case, it's 410 px. But you can't use all of it. Margins are also included. So, you can use about 390-400px.

2. Calculating. How many pics will fit.
Important thing to know is, when we place pictures in the table, we will make them smaller. But clicking on each, they will open in full size.

3. Upload pictures to:
- free web host service to get the URL address (Photobucket, Picasa, TinyPic...)
- or upload pics directly (through blogger), and get the code from there

4. Let's make a table. I'll make one with 1 Row (horizontal), and 3 Columns (vertical). And place my pics in it.
PLACE THE CODE IN "EDIT HTML" MODE! See the picture:
Here's the code for it:
0
">

PIC 1 URL " target="_blank" title="View">
PIC 1 URL" alt="pic name"/>
PIC 2 URL" target="_blank" title="View">
PIC 2 URL" alt="pic name"/>
PIC 3 URL" target="_blank" title="View">
PIC 3 URL" alt="pic name"/>

....REPLACE the lines in orange, with your pics URL (from a free web host).
....in blue, change number 0 to 1,2,3,4.....if you want a border around the table
....adjust width accordingly to width of post area (120 + 120 + 120 = 360 px, it fits into 410 px)
....change the green text to whatever (you can see this when placing your mouse cursor on the pic)
....in purple, give your picture a name (for search engines)
....and here's the result:

...when you click on your pic, you'll see the full size of it...

PROBLEMS:
► if you haven't deactivated it, the default blogger border will still appear around the pic (look at the arrow in the picture above) . If you want to remove it from certain pics, add some style (in orange) to the the existing line (in white): />...use the same rule for every picture...

► notice a lot of empty space between Title and Table. This happens because Blogger adds a
tag for each time you press the Enter key to start a new line. To reduce it, add the following code ABOVE the table:

...and this one UNDER the table:
So, these are the basics. It ain't so complicated, and there's a million options. You can use Tables for:
  • inserting pictures (make more rows, columns....)
  • placing text, making bullet lists
  • placing videos side by side
  • really, whatever you can think of....
Options:

-- add some headings to the pictures, make another row, and place it above (or under) the pictures. For my example, like this:

">Name 1
center

center">Name 2
center">Name 3

pic name

pic name

pic name

...added row is in orange
...you can change the alignment into right, left (in green)

...if you'd like to change font color, size, family, add this code:
...change the styles to whatever suits you...

-- leave an empty cell by not placing nothing between:
-- fill the cell with text, instead of picture:
Some text goes here...
-- color the cell with some color:
Some text here...
-- add some space (padding) from borders:
-- create bullet list in the cell:
Title of the list

  • something

  • something else

  • nothing

That's about it....Learn more visiting www.w3schools.com.

CONCLUSION:
This can look like a big deal, but really, it's not. When you do it once, you're ready. Save the code somewhere (Notepad, ....), just copy it, and paste when composing post.
You can also create tables using any HTML editor (like Dreamweaver, for example). Just copy the code from it....
There's also a way of doing this through Windows Live Writer, if you're using it.

Tips For A Good And Interested Blog Article

1. Develop a topic

As soon as an idea comes to me I write it down before I forget it. I hate it when I think of something that I want to write about when I’m in the shower because it seems that half the time I forget the details of it by the time I get out and get dried off. So if your not in the shower when you think of your topic right it down right away.

2. List the main points

At the moment that I write a topic down on a piece of paper and type it into my computer, I begin developing the main points. If it is going to be a list post I begin by writing down as many items as I can think of. If it is going to be an essay style post then I try to think of about three to five main concepts that can be discussed.
The key here is to let the topic determine the number of points. You want to come up with enough ideas to provide a comprehensive look at your subject without creating overkill.

3. Develop an exciting introduction

Once I’ve determined the main concepts that I plan on discussing in an article I have effectively established the direction the article is going to go. This allows me to create an opening paragraph or two. The goal here is to sell the article. While creating the introduction you should have a sentence or two that describes what the entire article is going to develop into. I often create a sentence like this and also end up using it for the meta description.
First impressions are lasting impressions. If you can’t pull the reader in during the first paragraph or two then you are probably not going to get them to read the whole article.
It’s important that your first paragraph be powerful so that you can make a strong first impression and draw the readers in.

4. Expand each point to a couple of paragraphs

After I have an introduction paragraph and a list of points that I plan on using then I move on to developing each point. First I add a line after the heading for that point. I usually then convert that actual point to an h3 tag which displays the orange titles above every few paragraphs in most of my articles.
I then move to that line that I created after the subheading and begin typing. You don’t even have to start on your first point. Pick out whichever point you feel is the most important. Sometimes I choose point 3 or 4 and sometimes I go in order. There’s no rule at this point. Just work through until you have a paragraph or two that describes each of your key concepts.
At this point just write what comes to you. Don’t focus on spelling or grammar. Just take your thoughts and ideas and get them into the post.

5. Illustrate Your Article

After the bulk of the article is written up I head over to Flickr.com and begin searching for images that I can use to illustrate my article. I click the ‘advanced search’ button and opt to only search through the images with a creative commons license that allows me to copy and modify the work.
Make it your goal to select a picture that is beautiful and on topic. If you are writing an article about horses then don’t show a picture of a starfish. Try to find something that will correlate with your article’s title.
I always position my image at the top of the article so that it can be seen while reading the headline. I want to draw people in with my headline, my first paragraph and my picture. These are three highly important areas to draw people into your article.

6. Revise the post

If your blogging software has a preview feature that allows you to view the article in your blog’s theme as it will be seen by your audience then I highly recommend that you use it for this step. This is also why I illustrate it before I revise it. I want to be able to look at it in every way seeing it as my readers will see it.
It’s important now to read through your post from beginning to end. Remember before when I said that you didn’t have to develop each point in order. During this step you should be checking to make sure that each step logically follows from the point before it. If it doesn’t then tweak it up a little bit until it does.
You should also be looking for spelling and grammar errors. There is nothing more irritating to an educated reader than to read an article from someone who writes as if they are illiterate.
It is also during this revision that I look for places to add dynamic adjectives. I look for places where I can spice things up just a little bit or make sentences sound just a little bit more exciting.

7. Create Meta Data and Tags

If you are using WordPress or a blogging platform with tagging enabled then create between 8 and 10 tags that directly describe your article. Use those same tags as your meta keywords. I have Site Sketch 101 setup to do that automatically. Whatever I put into the tags automatically goes into the keywords. I manually create tags and they then automatically become keywords.
I experimented with some automated keyword generators and decided that they are generally useless. These plugins would scan the article and attempt to automatically create tags based on the content. Usually they would pick words that really were not important to the topic so I quickly got rid of those and I now take the time to develop my own tags.
Also be sure to create a meta description for your article. If you were really good you would be able to find a sentence in one of the first three paragraphs that would work for you. You want this description to be more than 100 characters long and less than 160 characters long.

8. Revise the Post…Again

Go over your work one more time. Make sure that your thoughts and concepts flow smoothly between points. Make sure everything is spelled correctly and that you don’t have it laden with poor grammar.
I always assign a future date to most posts before I hit the publish button. I use future dates because I want to have a couple of days to read it over and revise it again if necessary. The more you go over it the better it will likely be.

9. Publish

Push the publish button. This one is was easy.
Find a way to take this process and make it work for you. If you need to mix up the order of a step to help you think and be creative then go for it. Do whatever it takes to get your creative juices flowing.

Top Reasons No One is Visiting Your Social Media Sites

Reason #1 Lack of consistency
This is one of the most common issues with social media use. A well-meaning business owner takes the time to build a few social media accounts, posts for a few days and then neglects to keep up with regular posting. This is not surprising because many people are just too busy to manage social media all the time. To fix this issue, schedule posts in advance using a social media management tool, or assign an administrator to post on a consistent basis.
Reason #2 Missing brand
Just like a business has a certain image, so too should your social media campaigns. Lack of a branded presence in social media can easily confuse followers from one platform to another. This can result in lower numbers of followers and lack of relationship building opportunities. To revitalize your social media networks, take the time to develop a meaningful brand and promote it across all your accounts.
Reason #3 Forgotten audience
When you write social media posts, are you using this medium for your own personal venting, to bash your competitors, or to talk about the weather? The key to successful management of a social media plan is to talk about things that may interest your target audience. Consider where your visitors are coming from, what’s new in your industry, and what your customers may be looking for in terms of content. Never forget that your most important audience is your followers list.
Reason #4 Poor relationships
If you have low numbers of followers, or if sharing has tapered off, perhaps it’s because you are not taking the time to nurture relationships with your fans. Social media was designed to help people connect through dialogue and information sharing, so without this element it will fall flat. Take the time to personally greet each new follower, and reach out to at least 10 people on your followers list to engage them in their interests.
Reason #5 Too sales oriented
The decision to go into social media for business promotions is fairly common, but when it becomes a playground for constant sales pitching, this is a serious turn-off. People get easily annoyed by sales promos being displayed on social media pages and they will either tune you out or disconnect from your social media pages. Sprinkle sales promotions very lightly in between informative posts, fun contests, and comment seeking polls and questions.
Despite the challenges that some face, social media remains a number one way to get in front of more people to share ideas and business offerings. When used wisely, social media can produce above average marketing results and help you to build your networks quickly. Make sure you focus on fostering relationships in a strategic way and try the above tips to get more followers over time. If you notice you are making one of the above mistakes, take action to correct it and don’t beat yourself up.
